Class Placement
Tiny Steps: Ages 2+
This is a beginning movement class for toddlers. Dancers are introduced to rhythm, movement, and basic tumbling skills. Tiny Steps develops body awareness and control while introducing personal creativity to the art of dance.
Level 1 & 2: Ages 4+
This is a movement class that introduces dance through creativity, imagination, rhythm, stretching, and creative movement activities. It also introduces dancers to beginning ballet steps and positions as well as the first sounds of tap dance. We use fun dance activities to promote healthy learning, self-esteem, and teamwork.
Level 3 & 4: Ages 7+
This class continues to teach the concepts of ballet. Terminology, musicality, timing, memory, posture, and body alignment are all incorporated. Beginner barre’ work and center progressions are introduced to the class. The tap curriculum continues with a focus on foot isolations and sound recognition. Included in Levels 3 & 4 is jazz dance with an emphasis on technique and skills.
Level 5 : Ages 11+
This level reviews the previous theories and ideas as well as introduces a much larger view into the Cecchetti Method of Ballet. A progression in combination work and across the floor exercises gives the dancer a chance to learn at their own comfortable pace. Center tap work and beginning center combinations are introduced focusing on timing and coordination.
Levels 5+/6: Ages 12+
These levels progress at an intensity that requires all dancers to attend at least 2 days a week during the year to excel and be admitted to Level 9. It is at these levels where the essential technique is learned in a dancer’s career. Pre-pointe work is incorporated for all dancers who wish to pursue ballet on pointe. Dancers begin learning the fundamentals of lyrical and modern dance, while continuing their education in ballet, tap, jazz, dancers conditioning/B.E.A.T & hip-hop.
PREP DIVISION: Director Placement
This is the level at Impact PAC where dancers participate in all styles of dance in an effort to perfect each technique and find their style to prepare them for the competitive world in dance. Dancers are tested on all Ballet terminology, precision in technique, and the ability to demonstrate each movement meticulously. Having the knowledge and ability to demonstrate center pointe, modern, lyrical, jazz and gymnastics for dancers is a necessity to build a strong, graceful competitive performer. Instructor placement needed, must be a company/competition team member.
Intensive Program
This is a pre-professional level separate from our recreational program at Impact Performing Arts Center. All students interested in this level must audition in person as well as submit a written paper and audition video. This course is to train the student in their preferred genre of dance. Focus is also emphasized on nutrition, injury prevention, study habits, and life balance. Private lessons are available upon request and for individual traveling competitions and company dance work.
Hip-Hop
This is a popular style of dance influenced by today’s urban and pop culture. The class focuses on a combination of energy, style, and technique. Fun Instructors and a fantastic class environment brings this genre alive.
Master Classes & Workshop available throughout the year.
It’s the 101 class of what dancers want and need to know! Students will learn the beginning basic of a different genre each week. Below is a list of some of the items we will be touching base on throughout the year.
Our Performance Company
Dancers who love to share their love of dance with others should be apart of our Impact Performance Company. We perform in local parades and an additional winter show called the Art of Winter. All performers have a hand in putting on the winter show. Wether it be composition, choreography, set design, ticket design or costuming, they make it a one of a kind show working together as a family! Company classes also touch on specialty topics such as Yoga, Pilates, Theater work, Stage Make-up and Hair, Dance History, Injury Prevention, Health & Nutrition. Dancers must be enrolled in a LEVEL 2+ or PREP to participate.
B.E.A.T
B.E.A.T. is a state of the art class that Impact has carefully developed to teach dancers to focus on precision, control, power, body alignment, stamina, and skills. Being true to the “Art of Dance” is not only knowing different dance steps, but it is just as important to execute each movement accurately with absolute control and to be able to exert and express our passion for the “Art of Dance,” B.E.A.T. offers all these elements together to create the truly evolved dancer. Balance. Extension. Alignment. Technique.
